カナダでの第4週目：学びと思い出の１週間

　26日はレスブリッジ大学の中にあるアートギャラリーを見に行きました。毎月作品のテーマが変わるそうで、今回はイヌイットがテーマでした。イヌイットの作品のほとんどは、生活模様が描かれており、その民族の食料や住居などを読み取ることが出来ました。イヌイットの人たちにとってアートとは日常生活の1部なのだと感じました。ほとんどの作品には日本製の紙が使われており、日本との繋がりも発見することが出来ました。
　27日は、レッド?ロック?キャニオンとウォータートンを訪れました。レッド?ロック?キャニオンは名前の通り、岩が赤い渓谷であり、とても綺麗でした。冷たく透き通った水が流れており、みんなで川遊びをしました。ウォータートンでは、滝を見たりお土産屋さんを巡ったりと楽しいひと時を過ごしました。自然とたくさん触れ合った1日でした。

　On August 26, we went to see the art gallery in the University of Lethbridge. The theme of the artwork changes every month, and this time the theme was Inuit. Most of the Inuit artworks depicted the daily life of the Inuit people, and we were able to know about their food, housing, and other aspects of their lives. I felt that for the Inuit people, art is a part of their daily life. Most of the artworks were made of Japanese paper, and we could discover there is also connection with Japan.
　On the 27th, we visited Red Rock Canyon and Waterton. Red Rock Canyon, as the name suggests, is a canyon with red rocks and was very beautiful. The water was cold and clear, and we all enjoyed playing in the river. In Waterton, we had a great time looking at waterfalls and visiting souvenir shops. It was a day full of contact with nature.

レッド?ロック?キャニオン①

　28日の浄水場では、レスブリッジの水の仕組みについて学びました。レスブリッジでは、井戸からの地下水を使用しておらず、全て川から供給していることが分かりました。また、広大な面積を持つ浄水場では安全できれいな飲料水を短期間で処理する仕組みがなされていることが分かりました。
　29日のフェアウェルセレモニーでは、これまでの活動を映像と共に振り返り、修了証も頂きました。約4週間という短期間の中で、一人一人が多くの学びを得ました。そして忘れられない思い出を作ることが出来ました。帰国後は、今回の経験を今後に活かせるよう学びをさらに深めていきたいと思います。

　On the 28th, we visited a water treatment place and learned about the mechanism of Lethbridge's water. It turns out that Lethbridge does not use groundwater from wells but supplies it entirely from the river. In addition, it was found that the water purification plant, which has a vast area, has a system in place to treat safe and clean drinking water in a short period of time.
　At the farewell ceremony on the 29th, we looked back on our activities so far with a slideshow and received a certificate of completion. In a short period of about four weeks, each of us learned a lot. And we were able to make unforgettable memories. After returning to Japan, we would like to deepen our learning so that we can make use of this experience in the future.
